Had a meeting of the Artist Mutual Aid Society at my studio on Friday evening, which was very harmonious. After adjourning Whittredge and Beard got into a quarrel over Academy affairs and had hot words between them. Went home on Saturday taking Mr. Krulder with me to estimate on my proposed studio. He examined it on Sunday and made an approximate estimate of the cut at $1330. Wrote a long letter to Booth Sunday which I sent to Richmond today. The weather remarkably mild. Came back today. Mr. Wilson called and seemed pleased with the picture as far as it has gone. Gifford dined with me. Went to the Council Meeting. Very foggy out and warm.
