The Jervis McEntee Diaries - January 19, 1875
Diary Entry:
Yesterday I received a very pleasant letter from Haven Putnam in which he informs me that he has put $450 to my credit for the drawings. A very pretty girl from Port Ewen Miss McGrath came over to see Lucy about teaching Jamie. She has employed her and I spoke to her about sitting to me which she is willing to do. This will be of great advantage to me. Painted a winter twilight from an effect I saw Sunday. On my walk this morning I saw an itinerant glazier out in the commons [To think?] of digging out broken glass and manipulating putty with the mercury at 5 below zero. But it is a splendid morning. The air flashes, the mountains are a dream and one feels ten years younger and able to do anything. Wrote to Haven Putnam. Last evening we went to John McEntees to a little party the occasion being the 10th anniversary of their wedding.
