Biographical materials include copies of Kottler's biography and curriculum vitae. Correspondence is with friends, family, and associates, including Arna Goffe, Gwen-Li Goo, Lauren Grossman, Judith Schwartz, and Patti Warashina. Writings consist of Kottler's doctoral dissertation, "An Exhibition of Pottery in Support of Three Processes in Ceramics." Artist, institutional, and teaching files include the University of Washington, the Tacoma Art Museum, the Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts, and the Garth Clark Gallery as well as inventory lists, sales records, banking records, and correspondence relating to the establishment and business conduct of the Howard Kottler Charitable Trust; Photographs, slides and negatives are of Kottler and his work. Audio cassette tapes (28) are of interviews with Kottler by Patricia Failing. Printed material includes comic books, newspaper clippings, exhibition announcements, catalogues, posters and craft periodicals featuring Kottler. Among the miscellany are tax forms, a wall calendar from 1988, with notations by Kottler, a 1948 yearbook from Cleveland Heights High School; other printed materials; and miscellany.
Donated 2006 by Howard Kottler via Wendy S. Goffe, executor for the estate.
