    REEL D28: Correspondence; drawings; account book; seven sketchbooks (some kept during trips to the West); autobiography; and miscellaneous printed items. Included is Whittredge's reminiscence, edited in 1942 by John I. H. Baur and published by the Brooklyn Museum.

    REEL 153: 31 photographs, some autographed, of 19th century American artists, compiled by Whittredge. Artists include George A. Baker, William H. Beard, Albert F. Bellows, Albert Bierstadt, John G. Brown, Seth W. Cheney, Frederic E. Church (photo is of a bust, dated April 18th, 1844?), Jasper F. Cropsey, Thomas S. Cummings, F. O. C. Darley, M. F. H. de Hass, F. Regis Gignoux, Henry P. Gray, Seymour J. Guy, George H. Hall, William Hart, William J. Hennessy, Richard W. Hubbard, Daniel Huntington, Henry A. Loop, Jervis McEntee, Samuel F. B. Morse, William Page, Horace W. Robbins, Aaron D. Shattuck, James A. Suydam, Launt Thompson, Robert W. Weir, A. H. Wenzler, Edwin White, and George H. Yewell.

    UNMICROFILMED: Artwork, dated 1836-1881, including sketches for wallpaper, watercolor paintings, engravings and miscellaneous drawings, including a typed sheet "Original Etchings by Anders Zorn" with prices in kroner, and two certificates of award, dated 1889 and 1904. Also included is Whittredge's copy of RECOLLECTIONS OF THE ART EXHIBITION, METROPOLITAN FAIR, NEW YORK April, 1864, photographed and published by Mathew B. Brady (New York: 1864). The volume contains a financial "Statement of the Art Department at the Metropolitan Fair in aid of the United States Sanitary Commission," August 5, 1864; the "Catalogue of the Art Exhibition at the Metropolitan Fair..."; and 20 photographs by Brady, including one of Whittredge in a group of men (probably the Committee on the Fine Arts, of which Whittredge was a member), and 19 of the art hanging at the art exhibit.

    Material on reels D28, 1817 and unmicrofilmed material donated 1959 by William W. and L. Emery Katzenbach, grandsons of Whittredge; material on reel 153 donated 1968 by William W. Katzenbach. Photos on reel 1817 microfilmed in 1980 as part of AAA's Photographs of Artists Collection II.
