    Boston, Mass. (Show Bio)

    Carrig-Rohane Shop records, 1903-1962

6.6 linear ft. (microfilmed on 9 reels)
    Reel(s): 4974-4982

Frame patterns, frame orders and specifications, financial records, business records, printed material, a few sketches and works of art, and photographs document the founding, frame design and production, and financial transactions of the company, and to a much lesser extent, the framing operations of Vose Galleries postdating the dissolution of the corporation.

Frame patterns, undated, are primarily photographs of frames with pattern numbers assigned by the Carrig-Rohane Shop. Included are two groups of numbered patterns, 6 bound books of patterns, loose photographs of frame patterns, a price list, and a record of patterns ordered.

Approximately half of the collection consists of frame orders and specifications, many bound in volumes, 1904-1962, including order number, name of the patron or gallery, frame dimensions, materials used, color, price, the artist, and occasionally the title of the work of art.

Financial records, 1908-1939, include invoices, accounts receivable, general ledgers, consignment account ledgers, income tax forms, a cash book and accounting reports. Business records, 1903-1953, include historical notes transcribed by R.C. Vose, scattered letters, the incorporation contract of Thulin-Murphy, meeting records, stockholder records, insurance policies, lease extensions, inventories of shop materials, and notes.

Also included are ca. 30 sketches of frames, a watercolor and a print, photographs of sketches and sculpture, and an article on Hermann Dudley Murphy, 1906.

Donated 1974-1987 by Robert C. Vose, Jr. Funding for processing and microfilming the collection was provided by Eli Wilner & Co.
