    A biographical sketch; correspondence, including letters from Abel to his wife, 1943-1945, many with drawings and sketches; photographs of Abel's ten India series paintings, painted while he was stationed there in 1945, with descriptions of their symbolism; notes on color theory; a list of his paintings; his military record and certificate; two articles; 14 clippings; and a memorial booklet written by Norwood Chamberlin.

    Donated 1974 by Mrs. Marcella Braunstein widow of Abel.
