Collection size: 1 item
Collection Summary: Three page hand written, illustrated letter on one folded sheet from Charles Burchfield to his sister Louise. Burchfield painted a detail of his watercolor "Winter Bouquet" on the front of the card. Burchfield writes that he originally created a woodcut of "Winter Bouquet" but did not feel that it was "Burchfieldesque" enough and he instead made a watercolor. The letter also references upcoming plans for Christmas and the untimely deaths of Burchfield's sister, Frances and mother, Alice (they died June 13 and June 23, 1933, respectively). Burchfield and Louise were saddened that this would be the first Christmas without Frances and Alice.
Biographical/Historical Note: Charles Burchfield (1893-1967) was a watercolorist, illustrator, and painter in New York and Ohio.
