Collection Summary: Glass negatives and copy prints of Burroughs' work, primarily paintings. The negatives were possibly made for the Burroughs' Memorial Exhibition held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1935.
Biographical/Historical Note: Painter and museum curator, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, N.Y. Burroughs studied at the Art Students League in New York and at the Académie Julian in Paris. Later, he became an Associate - then a full member - of the National Academy of Design in New York. From 1909 to 1934 he was the Curator of Paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Donated 1983 by the Metropolitan Museum of Art via John K. Howat.
