Collection Summary: Letters, works of art, and a book of poems regarding Knute Stiles. Twenty-seven letters, five cards and one postcard from Knute Stiles to friend and painter Bill Moore. The letters mainly discuss Stile's life in Mexico and Brisbee, Arizona and many contain poems written by Stiles. Some of the letters are addressed to Moore when he used the last name Brodecky. Works of art include nine signed abstract watercolors by Stiles. Also included is "On Booze" , a book of poems by Jack Goodwin and Knute Stiles.
Biographical/Historical Note: Painter; San Francisco, Calif. and Bisbee, Ariz. Friend for over forty years with painter and collage artist Knute Stiles, beginnning when they were both living in San Francisco. Stiles also lives in Brisbee, Ariz. Moore's last name was changed to Brodecky (his stepfather's name) at age 3; he changed it back to Moore in the 1980s.
