Collection Summary: Letters, diaries and notebooks, writings and notes, business records, art work, and photographs.
Correspondence is with editors, museums, galleries, family and friends. diaries and notebooks (some returned to the donor) containing diary entries, names and addresses, recipes, notes on writing techniques, and fragments of stories and poetry. Writings consist of notes from Ryan's etching class with Stanley William Hayter; and circa 75 manuscripts of short stories, novels and poetry (not microfilmed).Business records relate to her prints, to exhibtions and to sales of her work. Photographs are of Ryan, her family, friends, including one of Stanley Hayter and art work. Art work consists of stencils, sketches, pastels, a watercolor, and an oil painting. Printed material includes clippings. Also included is correspondence of Ryan's daughter, Elizabeth McFadden, concerning Ryan's art work, and letters of condolence to McFadden on her mother's death.

Donated 1971 by Elizabeth McFadden, Anne Ryan's daughter, except for several notebooks, journal and a diary, 1938, 1941-1942, which were returned to McFadden after microfilming (reel 87).
