Included are ten letters concerning the organization of the symposium, 1981-1982; notes on the proceedings, 1983; lists of panelists and participants; a program; artists' files, 1979-1982, containing writings, photographs of works, and printed material on Allan Adler, Kenneth Bates, Hans Christiansen, Adda Husted-Andersen, Arthur Pulos, Richard Thomas, Robert von Neuman, and Margret Craver Withers; 172 slides of works; ten audio cassettes (with duplicate copies) and 17 videotapes recording 5 discussions between panel members Allan Adler, Kenneth Bates, Hans Christensen, Alma Eikerman, Adda Husted-Andersen, Frederick A. Miller, John Paul Miller, Ron Pearson, Ruth Penington, John Prip, Arthur Pulos, Carlyle Smith, Richard Thomas, Arthur Vierthaler, Robert von Neumann, Robert Winston, and Margret Craver Withers and participants Robert Cardinale, Helen Williams Drutt, Arline Fisch, Lloyd Herman, Glenice Matthews, Michael Monroe, Lois Moran, and Oppi Untracht.
Records kept by organizer Mark Baldridge include correspondence, lists of participants with addresses, proposal for the symposium, a copy of a grant application, an invitation to a pre-symposium buffet, and notes.

Transferred 1982 and 1985 from the Renwick Gallery. An additional file of records was donated 1995 by organizer Mark Baldridge.
